**How to Choose the Right ZHME Winch for Your Vehicle**
Need help deciding which winch is right for you? The best way is to calculate the line pull required for your application. Multiply your vehicle's Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) by 1.5 – this gives an estimate of the winch size you need. Typically, the first layer of rope on the drum is the maximum load the winch can handle. Each additional layer reduces the rated line pull by about 10%. So for a winch rated at 9,500 lbs, the second layer will pull 8,550 lbs, the third 7,700 lbs, and so on. Uneven spooling of the rope can also reduce pulling power, so make sure to re-spool your winch before heading out!
