This was a car that crashed into a building. I didn’t hear the Glenview dispatch, but I did hear RED Center sending Engine 1 and TRT3. I was on Central Road heading to NIPSTA for a MABAS meeting, so I took it in cold. Upon arrival, I noticed the car had smashed into the garage, and there was a strong smell of natural gas in the area. I parked about 100 yards or more away from the scene. GV had a line deployed and was working to shut off the gas. I’m not sure if there were any injuries. As soon as I arrived at the command post, Battalion 6 returned TRT3 and E1, along with some GV companies.

It was pretty tense when I got there. The smell of gas was strong, and you could tell something serious had happened. I stayed a while to watch the response. It looked like they had everything under control pretty quickly. I don’t know what caused the crash, but it’s definitely one of those situations where seconds count. I think the fire department handled it well, and I’m glad no one was hurt. If you look at the photos, you can see how close the car came to the building. Definitely a scary incident, but everyone seems okay.
