According to South Korea's customs statistics, South Korea's exports of pure benzene to the US harbor area in May was 50,124 tons, a decrease of 42.8% from the same period of last year but an increase of 112.2% compared with April (23,612 tons). It is reported that the decline in May was expected in the market, as arbitrage trading is sluggish, but the overall amount has greatly exceeded the previous forecast of 15,000-35,000 tons. Some businesses indicated that the unexpected increase in exports in May was mainly due to the delay in shipment in April.
