November Excavator: Continued Decline Difficult to improve during the year

According to the survey data of China Construction Machinery Business Network, in November 2011, 26 major excavator manufacturers sold 8908 sets of excavators. Compared with the previous month, the sales volume did not change much, which was a decrease of 0.16% compared with the previous month; however, due to the higher base in the same period of last year, This month, the year-on-year decline further increased to 38.25%, which is the lowest monthly decline since 2011. Due to the cold weather in December, construction progress of most of the projects slowed down, resulting in weak downstream demand. Analysts of China Construction Machinery Business Network predict that sales in December will remain difficult to improve.

From January to November 2011, 26 major excavator manufacturers in China sold a total of 169,857 excavators, an increase of 11.06% over the same period of last year. Accumulated increases since the February highs have dropped for nine consecutive months. Analysts of China Construction Machinery Business Network expect that the excavator's annual sales in 2011 will be around 178,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 7%, which is much lower than the 20% expected at the beginning of the year.

Domestic self-owned brand excavators have a strong breakthrough and their import substitution is obvious.

Judging from the accumulated sales from January to November in 2011, the share of domestic brands further increased, with a total of 67 142 sets sold by domestic brands. The market share reached 39.53%, an increase of nearly 11 percentage points from the same period in 2010. Japan and South Korea’s brand share declined, Japanese brands dropped to 29%, and Korean brands dropped to 19%. The European and American Departments performed relatively smoothly, staying at around 12%.

Judging from the sales of each brand, Sany Heavy Machinery's excavator sales have surpassed Komatsu since June of this year. The trend of import substitution of excavators in China is further extended.

The digging prospects are promising, the demand for digging is stable, and the digging is shrinking.

From January to November, the proportion of small digging sales under 13T in China increased to 36.52%, which was 3.19 percentage points higher than the same period in 2010; in addition, the proportion of large digging above 30T also increased; but the traditional tonnage 20-30T products Market share has shrunk somewhat from 2010. As a whole, the structure of excavator products in our country is shifting towards digging and digging at both ends.
