Research and Development of a General-purpose Head CAD System for Open Profile Extrusion Dies

1 Introduction

On the basis of analyzing the structure of the typical plastic profile extrusion equipment, it is trying to change the status quo of a product set of a product in the traditional production process, and proposes the structure of an open profile universal head. And with the help of modern design concepts, we have developed the corresponding parameterized die CAD system with design flexibility, the open profile extrusion die CAD system, which uses the parameter-driven approach to update the design content to meet the needs of the replacement of cattle products. Undoubtedly, the research content in the article will play an active role in the development of plastic profile extrusion molding technology.

2 Open profile extrusion die universal head structure

Due to the wide variety of profiles produced by the company, in order to adapt to products with different cross-sectional shapes and reduce the investment in manufacturing equipment, the company will use only the forming port template 1 in the machine head according to the actual situation, as shown in Figure 1. In the production process, the replacement of the forming port template 1 is more convenient. It is only necessary to remove the mesh coupling screws 2, remove the pressing cover 3, take out the molding template 1, and replace it with another forming port template. Among them, the Dingnan four adjustment screws 4 in the inner wall of the forming template are adjusted. The transition section 5, the diverter front end 7, the manifold support 6, the rear end 8 of the diverter fluid, and the head and neck section 9 generally do not need to be changed. Only when the need arises, the CAD system can be used to realize parameterization and no juice.

3 CAD system design

3.1 Feasibility Analysis

SolidWorks is a set of open system CAD/CAM/PDM desktop integration system based on Windows operating system. It provides API (Application Programming Interface) application programming interface, and provides a large number of OLE objects and their methods and properties, allowing users to effectively develop secondary tools through tools such as VB. Starting from the performance of the universal head of the mold, it is necessary to develop a CAD/CAM system in order to further improve the general degree of use. Take the recorded macro file to modify and edit, and then the secondary development program generated. The exe file is invoked in SolidWorks 2006 as a macro to implement the functions required by the system. So the system design and development are feasible.

3.2 overall system design

When the section of the produced profile product changes, the extrusion die will have two conditions. One is that only the size of the die plate can be changed to meet the production requirements; the other is that the other parts of the extrusion die also need to be changed in size. The CAD system first obtains the relevant information of the product and judges which of the conditions belongs. If it is the case 1, then read the cross-sectional 2D map of the human product, generate a new template entity, and then carry out other related aspects of the CAM (this article will not be described in detail); if it is the second case, change each by parameter-driven method. The parameters of the component (the system correlates related design parameters of each component, reducing the chance of error). Due to the change in the size of multiple parts, in order to ensure the eligibility of the entire product, the next step will be analog assembly (here to call the standard parts stored in the system database). When it is confirmed that each component is properly designed, it enters the next stage of mold processing CAM. 3.3.2 System Operation Interface

The system will use SolidWorks APl's capabilities to compile SolidWork plug-ins, integrate them into the SolidWorks environment, and use SolidWorks programs for management. The SolidWorks plug-in is a DLL file. In the process of generating a DLL with a program, you must define the interface between the DLL file and SolidWorks. The system uses the SWAddin.ConnecteiToSW function of the SolidWorks plug-in file and the SwAddin.DisconnectFmmSW function of the SolidWorks interface to implement the function and develop the running interface. 3.3.3 Parameter Design Window

The parameter design window of the mouth template in the head menu (as shown in Fig. 4) is taken as an example to illustrate the realization of the function of the parameters in the system. 3.3.4 Examples of Programs

4 Summary

SolidWorks can play a significant role in auxiliary structure design, auxiliary engineering analysis, and auxiliary manufacturing of molds.
