In Division 24, the Homewood Fire Department has been officially added to the site. Covering an area of 5 square miles, they operate with a mix of career and part-time firefighters. Their fleet includes apparatus from well-known manufacturers such as Pierce, Smeal, Crimson, and 3D. One unique feature of their station is the variety of chassis brands used. For example, their Pierce unit runs on a Lance chassis, while they also have a cab and chassis from HME, Spartan, and Pemfab. The department maintains two ambulances at their station, along with a third reserve ambulance that is shared with neighboring departments Flossmoor and Hazel Crest. This backup unit is located at the Hazel Crest station. All the images featured here were generously provided by Karl Klotz.

This week, the department made a significant move by selling their 1982 Mack MR engine to Ford Heights. Looking ahead, they are set to receive a brand-new aerial ladder truck from Pierce in March of next year. This upgrade will help ensure continued service and safety for the community.
