Shenzhen's Development and Reform Bureau, in collaboration with the Kexin Bureau, has launched the "11th Five-Year Plan for the Development of the Biopharmaceutical Industry in Shenzhen," marking a significant step in focusing on the growth of the biopharmaceutical sector. The plan aims to expand the industry’s scale, with an expected annual gross output value reaching between 70 billion and 100 billion yuan by 2010. This initiative is considered the city's first comprehensive strategy to develop the biomedical industry, signaling a new direction in Shenzhen's economic development.
According to an official from the Shenzhen Municipal Development and Reform Bureau, the construction of the national bio-industry base in Shenzhen is progressing steadily. A joint coordination meeting has already been established, and future efforts will focus on enhancing the professional service platform, optimizing the policy environment, and increasing government investment in the biopharmaceutical sector.
A special fund of 30 million yuan has been allocated as part of the Shenzhen High-Tech Industrialization Demonstration Project plan, specifically targeting biomedical and medical device projects. This funding will support local enterprises in promoting independent innovation, expanding into international markets, and contributing to the construction of national biotechnology industrial bases. The government plans to gradually increase these special funds as the industry continues to grow, ensuring long-term sustainability and development in the biopharmaceutical field.
