According to reports, Apollo Tire plans to expand its production capacity in Chennai, India, and establish a research and development center here to focus on the development of commercial vehicle tires.
At present, the plant can produce about 6,000 truck tires and 15,000 car radial tires daily for the Indian market and export market. After the expansion of the Chennai plant, the tire production capacity is expected to increase by 50%. It is reported that the capacity utilization rate of the Chennai factory has been maintained at 70%-75%. Apollo stated that due to the conversion of Kalamassery factories in Kerala to special tyres such as agricultural tyres, the expansion of the Chennai factory is very necessary.
