This just came in from an industrial accident earlier today in Glendale Heights. The Bloomingdale Fire Protection District was called to an explosion at a metal fabrication plant around midday. According to local reports, including The Daily Herald, at least two individuals sustained injuries following an explosion and subsequent fire at Northstar Metal Products Inc., located on Mitchell Drive.
The first responders arrived on the scene at approximately 11:56 a.m. and found significant smoke billowing from the rear of the building. Deputy Fire Chief Jeffrey Janus was among those who quickly assessed the situation and coordinated the response efforts. The entire incident is still developing, but early indications suggest that the fire was contained relatively quickly thanks to the swift action of the firefighting teams.
