Holiday Meals on Grills!

10 minute read | PGS Grill

using a grill to cook this holiday seasonThe holidays are here, and with them come family gatherings, festive cheer, and the age-old question: what’s for dinner? While the oven is always a safe bet, don’t forget about your trusty gas grill. It’s not just for summer barbecues — grilling can be a fun and efficient way to prepare holiday meals, freeing up your oven for other dishes while adding a unique touch to your celebrations. Plus, it gives you a reason to escape the house when things get a little too cozy in the living room. Here are some tips and recipes to make the most of your holiday grilling.

Grill Tune-Up

If it's been a while since you last used your grill, now is the time to give it a quick check. Start by ensuring your gas tank is full — no one wants to run out mid-cook. Also, inspect the gas connections, burners, and clean the grates to ensure everything works smoothly. For more detailed guidance, check out our post “Keeping Your AEI PGS Grill in Good Working Order.”

Safety First

Before you start, remember that grilling should always be done outdoors. Never use your grill inside a garage or any enclosed space — it’s a fire hazard and can lead to dangerous fumes. Once you’ve found a safe spot, preheat your grill to the desired temperature. In colder weather, it might take a bit longer to heat up, but PGS grills typically reach optimal temperatures in about 10 minutes. Always keep the lid closed as much as possible to retain heat and use a food thermometer to avoid undercooked meals.

Holiday Grilling Recipes

Now, let’s talk about the real star of the show: the food. Whether you’re going for traditional favorites or something new, your grill has got you covered.

Appetizers

  • Try Martha Stewart’s grilled cheese wheel for a gooey, crowd-pleasing twist on a classic.
  • Grilled tomato crostini is a simple yet elegant option for any gathering.
  • For something bold, wrap jalapeños in bacon, stuff them with cheese and chorizo, and grill to perfection.

Main Dishes

Pork is a popular choice for New Year’s, symbolizing progress into the next year. And it’s perfect for grilling. Try Alton Brown’s tenderloin recipe with adobo, lime, and cilantro, or go for a bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin for extra flavor. If seafood is more your thing, grilled shrimp with garlic and herbs will impress your guests. A good marinade is key for chicken, so don’t skip that step!

  • Mushroom skewers make a great appetizer or side dish, especially with a drizzle of balsamic glaze.

Foil Packets

Foil packets are a game-changer for holiday grilling. They allow you to cook meat, veggies, and potatoes together without worrying about burning or drying out. Plus, they make cleanup a breeze. Try butter garlic herb steak packets or even a breakfast packet for Christmas morning — it’s a great way to mix things up.

Ball Splines

Construction of Ball Spline

A ball spline utilizes balls installed within the spline sleeve (spline nut). These balls circulate and roll within precisely ground grooves on the spline shaft, enabling smooth linear rolling and torque transmission simultaneously. The ball spline and the spline shaft are designed and processed with different numbers of grooves and at different angles as contact points.
The spline sleeve consists of six components: a main cavity made of bearing steel, balls, plastic turning passages, dust covers, key pins, and screws. The cavity is fabricated with different numbers of ball tracks according to its size, typically divided into 2-row, 4-row, and 6-row types. Generally, the more rows there are, the higher the precision.
The spline shaft is a high-straightness, smooth shaft. It is processed with different numbers of grooves according to the corresponding number of ball rows in the spline sleeve. The higher the straightness and roundness, the higher the precision.
