Earlier tonight, I came across some posts from the Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District on their Facebook page. It looks like there was quite an intense situation earlier this evening involving a structure fire.
According to the post, the fire department first received the call around 1:47 AM for a reported fire at the 300 block of Goshawk Lane in unincorporated Deerfield. By the time they were on their way, the RED Center — which is their regional emergency dispatch center — had already updated them that local police officers were already on the scene and confirmed it as a fully involved structure fire. When the firefighters arrived, they found a two-story, multi-unit townhome complex with significant flames shooting out from the roof.
The crew immediately pulled out a hose line and initiated a fire attack while also confirming that the building was clear of any occupants. Thankfully, the fire was confined to the unit where it originated. However, they did check the neighboring buildings to ensure there was no fire spreading, and while one building had some minor damage, it wasn’t severe.
For support, they called in a Mutual Aid Box alarm to bring in additional personnel and fire investigators. The exact cause of the fire and the total financial impact are still under investigation.
It was quite the team effort, as the Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District received assistance not only from surrounding towns like Deerfield, Buffalo Grove, and Long Grove but also from the Lake County Sheriff's Office and the RED Center itself.

It’s always humbling to see how quickly these teams can mobilize when emergencies strike, especially during the early hours of the morning.
