Still and Box Alarm fire in Chicago, 9-16-18

Here's a firsthand account from Steve Redick:

Recently, I happened to be near Engine 11’s station when I noticed some activity going on. By the time I got there, things were already under control. The firefighters had set up a handline on Truck 9’s aerial ladder, and it seemed like an interior line had done most of the work to contain the fire. I remember seeing one person being tended to by medics. It was all very fast-paced, but everyone was working efficiently.

I didn't expect to witness something like this that evening, but I’m grateful for the professionalism of the Chicago firefighters. They truly make a difference in moments like these. These photos give you a glimpse into how they handle emergencies, and I hope they continue to have the resources they need to keep everyone safe.

It’s always humbling to see people step up in tough situations. The way these firefighters worked together reminded me of why we should never take their dedication for granted. Kudos to them!
