Structure fire in Berwyn 6-6-12

I just got a message from Josh Boyajian about an incident that happened today in Berwyn. There was a fire at 2741 Ridgeland Street in a two-story apartment building, and it seems like the flames were mostly contained to the back part of the structure. By the time I arrived on the scene, the fire was already under control, but I managed to snap some photos of the response efforts. The first unit on the scene was Berwyn’s Quint 901, also known as 9Q1. It’s an impressive rig—a 2012 Pierce Velocity PUC Quint with a powerful 1,500-gallon-per-minute (GPM) pump, 300 gallons of onboard water storage, and a 100-foot rear-mounted aerial ladder. This thing is built for action, and seeing it roll up so quickly definitely made me feel reassured about the situation. Attached, you’ll find a few images I took of the scene. These include shots of the Quint 901 in action, along with some wider views of the building itself. The firefighters did an amazing job containing the blaze before it could spread further, and I’m grateful they were able to respond so swiftly. For reference, here’s a quick breakdown of what I observed: - **Fire Location**: Rear of the two-story apartment building at 2741 Ridgeland. - **First Unit On Scene**: Berwyn’s Quint 901 (9Q1). - **Time of Incident**: Early this afternoon. It’s always sobering to see these kinds of events unfold, but it’s reassuring to know that our local fire department has such capable equipment and personnel. If anyone else captured any additional details or photos, I’d love to hear about them! --- **UPDATE:** Since sharing my initial post, I’ve received a few more messages from folks who were nearby when the fire broke out. Some mentioned hearing the alarms go off around noon, while others noted how quickly the Quint 901 arrived on the scene. One person even shared a video clip showing the truck pulling up and setting up its equipment. If anyone wants to share their experience or any extra footage, feel free to reach out—I’d love to compile everything into one comprehensive report. In the meantime, let’s hope the residents affected by this fire can get back on their feet soon. It’s a stark reminder of why we need strong emergency services—and why supporting them is so important. --- That’s all for now. Stay safe, everyone!

Piping Fittings

Pipe fittings are threaded fittings that assist in making different plumbing configurations. Different types of pipe fittings come in many shapes and sizes, including y-fittings, couplings, reducers, tees, and elbows. Whatever the shape, the pipe fitting is connected to pipes and tubes to separate the equipment, as well as to close or seal a pipe.
