Two energy-saving products independently developed by Dalian Boiler Plant were put into operation

At the Dalian Municipal Economic Commission, two innovative energy-saving and environmentally friendly boilers developed independently by the Dalian Boiler Plant received high praise from the appraisal committee's experts. The committee members unanimously agreed that these boilers are ready for large-scale production in the near future. Lin Zonghu, chairman of the appraisal committee and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, along with Professor Bodao from Xi'an Jiaotong University, highlighted the significance of the oil-fired coal-fired steam injection boiler. This model uses low-cost coal instead of oil as fuel, significantly boosting the economic efficiency of oil fields. Meanwhile, the high-temperature hot water boiler integrates four advanced technologies, making it both eco-friendly and highly efficient. So far, the Dalian Boiler Factory has secured over 10 orders for the coal-fired steam injection boiler. These boilers are subcritical pressure chain grate direct current coal-fired units, serving as key equipment in heavy oil extraction. They are the first of their kind globally and have earned numerous national patents. According to Liu Zhimin, director of the Dalian Boiler Factory, traditional heavy oil extraction methods often led to significant consumption of oil or gas resources, lowering the commodity rate of oil fields. Each coal-fired steam injection boiler costs approximately 14 million yuan to install, with operating costs around 12.05 million yuan annually. The payback period is roughly 14 months. For example, at Liaohe Oilfield, which produces 12 million tons of crude oil yearly—80% of which is heavy oil—over 200 existing fuel (gas) boilers consume about 10% of the total output, or 12.5% of heavy oil production, costing around 4 billion yuan annually. With China producing nearly 30 million tons of heavy oil each year and more than 600 fuel (gas) steam injection boilers in operation, replacing them with coal-fired models could save over 5 billion yuan in thermal injection costs annually. According to statistics, industrial boilers account for one-third of the country’s total coal consumption. Most of them are small coal-fired units, which suffer from high energy use, pollution, and safety risks. Transitioning to large-scale centralized heating systems is becoming a necessary step toward improving efficiency and reducing environmental impact.
