This is from Josh Boyajian:
January 21, 2014 – A working fire was reported in the 6500 block of South Green. I was at 47th and Halsted when the call came in. As soon as the companies were dispatched, you could see the emergency response in motion. Engine 47 arrived first and immediately deployed a line to the second floor. Truck Co. 18 took the main to the roof and made a few ventilation cuts. The fire was brought under control pretty quickly. Here are some of my photos from the scene.

It was an intense but quick response. The firefighters worked efficiently, and it looked like they had the situation well under control. I was just a few blocks away, so I got a good view of the action. These pictures give a real sense of what it was like on the scene that day. It's always interesting to see how quickly crews can respond and handle a fire like this. If you're interested, I've included several shots showing different stages of the incident — from the flames bursting out of the windows to the firefighters making their way inside. Definitely a reminder of the work these men and women do every day.
