Volvo President: European heavy truck market will shrink by 40% this year

Leav Johanson, president of the Swedish Volvo Group, said on the 24th that he believes that the European heavy truck market will shrink by 40% this year, but the global market demand will begin to rebound before the end of the year.

According to the AFP report, Johansson also said in an interview with the media that the situation of the truck market this year is better than the first half of the year.

Johansson expects that the European market will sell 180,000 to 200,000 trucks this year, down from nearly 319,000 vehicles last year.

The Volvo Group's report on the same day showed that its truck delivery volume in the global market fell by 51% in February compared with the same period of last year, and it decreased by 63% in the European market. Johnsson believes that the financial crisis caused customer financing difficulties, leading to the market depression.

Volvo Group, headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden's second largest city, is the world's leading manufacturer of trucks. In addition, it also produces large passenger cars, various construction vehicles, aircraft engines and yachts and other products.
