The largest patent inventor is the most backward patent-realizing country

Yan Jianlai said that no matter what the country’s recently proposed “Made in China 2025” planning target, or from the perspective of the automobile’s dream of strengthening the country, the problem that China's auto industry has been criticized has been that it has not had its own core technology. There are many reasons for this problem, but the core problem is the lack of talent.

He believes that China's auto industry is not only lacking high-end talent, but also lacks industrial skilled talents. This issue can be reflected from another perspective. At present, China has become the world's largest patent invention country. At the same time, China is still the most backward patent-realizing country. The key reason for this phenomenon is the lack of talents capable of realizing patents in terms of process and cost. “When participating in the formulation of reform goals and policies, it was found that the lack of talent is an important factor constraining the dream of a strong nation.” Yan Jian said that the mission of the Chinese Society of Automotive Engineers “Tianzi No. 1” is to promote the progress of talent in the automotive industry in China. At present, 30% to 40% of the energy has been transferred to the training of talents. The Ministry of Education last year instructed the China Automotive Engineering Society to establish the Automotive Vocational Education Group to identify talents, cultivate talents, transport talents, and accumulate talents. The automotive industry lays the foundation for skilled talents.

Two major causes of talent loss
Through research and analysis, Yan Jianlai believes that the lack of talent is a complicated issue in the automotive industry. Among them, there are social public opinion, social atmosphere and other factors. At the same time, there are factors of talent training mechanism caused by exam-oriented education.

Yan Jian said: “There have been many automotive companies that have given me feedback. The graduates they recruited have not been able to use it for three to five years. On the one hand, they reflect that our university education is advanced; on the other hand, it also reflects China’s academic education. And compulsory education, it is difficult to meet the needs of the current industry."

He emphasized that in the complicated problem of talent shortage, the biggest factor is not only these, there are two main factors, one is the lagging problem of industrial skills education; the other is the application of industrial talents can not stay in the problem.

When the industry develops, companies need people, and the school begins to train people, including a series of problems such as base construction, teachers, and teaching materials. It usually takes 2-3 years to build a professional. "This is the lag in education." Yan Jianlai said.

In addition, the liquidity of China's automotive industry personnel is relatively large, the company's talent needs are also relatively large, and the phenomenon of “shaving each other” often occurs. Yan Jianlai believes that this is related to the small number of talented people, but also related to the employer’s mechanism.

Should establish a mechanism to protect talent
According to the investigation results of the Suzhou Joint Venture by the Bureau of Education of Suzhou City, relatively speaking, European and American companies have much higher stability than Taiwanese, Hong Kong and Japanese companies.

This survey results are similar to joint ventures that account for the majority of China's automobile production and sales. Technology is basically derived from foreign parties. The right to speak is basically controlled by foreign parties. Whether or not talent is retained will vary with different corporate styles. Yan Jianlai believes that in order to realize the dream of building a strong automobile country in China, a mechanism for protecting talents should be established.

First, companies need to establish mechanisms to retain talent. "The retention of talent by enterprises requires not only the mechanism protection of salary, but also the establishment of the staff's learning and training mechanism, humanistic care mechanism, and the mechanism for giving employees promotion opportunities," said Yan Jian.

Second, the auto industry needs to give talents time to grow and accumulate space. Yan Jianlai said: "The accumulation of talents is not individual training alone, but through the efforts of several generations, through the accumulation of large amounts of data and the accumulation of countless failures, a team with valuable engineering experience is formed, just as China's automobile engineering. The College Student Formula Competition, which is organized by the Society, aims to cultivate talents and build a team of talented people over a period of 10 to 20 years, and ultimately achieve the decision-making power of independent development."

Finally, we need the common support of the entire society. “At present, China encourages more people to engage in skills-based work, but the social atmosphere of public opinion and respect for talents has not yet formed.
