Foxconn raises US$1.7 billion to upgrade energy-saving projects such as LED lighting

According to Bloomberg News, Foxconn is raising $1.7 billion (equivalent to about 10.555 billion yuan) from British investors, and will set up a fund for energy management contract to build solar power plants, install LED lighting and energy-saving air conditioners. Overhead, as for the energy costs saved in the future, will become the fund's investment compensation. AllenWang, head of Foxconn Energy Technology, said that although Foxconn has the relevant technology and talents, because of the considerable scale of investment, the source of funds is the key to the success of the plan. Apple announced this month that it would build two solar power plants in Sichuan with a total power generation capacity of 40 megawatts (MW). AllenWang declined to say whether Hon Hai's plant green energy plan is related to this.
