On September 1, the first batch of over 3,000 tons of polypropylene from Maoming Petrochemical’s newly commissioned 300,000-ton-per-year polypropylene plant will hit the market. Soon after, the high-density polyethylene (HDPE) from the new 350,000-ton-per-year HDPE facility will also be launched. These two projects are key components of Maoming Petrochemical’s larger 1-million-ton-per-year ethylene renovation and expansion initiative.
The company has followed a strategic approach: "complete one unit, start one unit, deliver one unit, and generate benefits from one unit." By addressing downstream issues early on and utilizing raw materials from the existing 360,000-ton-per-year ethylene plant, the two new units were brought online efficiently. Once the newly built 640,000-ton-per-year ethylene facility is fully operational, the entire process will be optimized, significantly reducing the time required to ramp up production and maximizing profitability.
With the expansion of its ethylene capacity and the addition of new production lines, Maoming Petrochemical now ranks among the top in the country in terms of output for plastic raw materials and liquid chemicals. To ensure smooth operations and maximize efficiency, the company, in collaboration with Sinopec Chemical Sales Guangzhou Branch, has carefully planned market positioning, product flow, customer segmentation, sales strategies, and logistics. This has greatly accelerated product distribution and export.
In response to the large-scale production of new HDPE, both production and sales teams have organized promotional activities across the Pearl River Delta, Southwest China, and other regions. They have visited over 70 plastic processing companies, establishing direct relationships with major users. Additionally, after-sales support has been enhanced to build trust in the new products.
Currently, the logistics and transportation systems for over 1 million tons of new plastic raw materials and liquid chemical products from the ethylene expansion project are fully arranged, ensuring efficient delivery to customers nationwide.
